Single Food Diet

Single Food Diets, Single Food Weight Loss Plan

Fad Diets
These are purely fad diets such as the grapefruit diet and the egg and tomato diet (which allows up to 6 hard-boiled eggs and six tomatoes a day!) These diets are deficient in essential vitamins and minerals and do nothing to improve eating habits. As a result, they are useless for weight loss and may be unhealthy.

Easy Weight Loss Due to Special Properties
In particular, beware those fad diets that promote a food because of it’s special properties (e.g. “fat-burning”) that supposedly cause easy weight loss. No single food has this type of weight-loss benefit and fat-burning is a myth.

The only reason that dieters lose weight on these fad diets is because either, the diet plan provides very few calories, or because the dieter becomes so bored with the monotony of the diet menu that they end up not eating enough to maintain their weight.

Verdict
They are a waste of time. Avoid them.

A Note about Healthy Weight Control
Fad diets, unbalanced diets, diet pills, diet supplements, weight loss surgery and other short term weight loss methods are not recommended for permanent weight control. The best way to lose excess fat and maintain a healthy weight in the long term is to follow a balanced calorie-controlled diet (that improves your eating habits) and take regular aerobic exercise.
