Count Calories or Fat to Lose Weight

To Lose Weight Should I Count Calories or Fat?

In many cases, reducing fat is as effective as reducing calories. But not always. Many lower-fat foods contain more calories than full-fat varieties.

So counting/reducing calories is more important for weight than counting/ reducing fat grams.

But reducing fat – especially saturated or hydrogenated fat – does make sense from a health viewpoint, due to the connection between saturated fat and heart disease. Ideally, aim to consume a maximum of 30 percent of your daily calories from fat (max 1/3 of this may be saturated fat) and choose vegetable rather than animal fats whenever possible.
