Is a High Protein Diet Good for Weight Loss?
Any calorie-controlled diet – including a high protein diet – will help you to lose weight. However, unless the weight loss diet you choose is healthy enough to follow long-term, it is not likely to help you make the necessary changes to your eating habits. Result? You may lose weight only to regain it.
At present, some medical experts do not consider a high protein diet to be a healthy long-term diet plan, as it is insufficiently balanced and may therefore lack certain nutrients. Furthermore, there are fears that high protein diets lead to over-consumption of animal fats which are high in saturated fat and dietary cholesterol.
