Susanne Somers Diet Plan
“Get Skinny on Fabulous Food” by Susanne Somers
“Get Skinny on Fabulous Food” is a high fat weight loss diet plan. It is based on several erroneous dietary assumptions, as follows:
Susanne Somers claims that when proteins and carbohydrates are digested together, their enzymes “cancel each other out,” halting the digestion process and causing weight gain.
Fact: The body contains enzymes that target proteins, carbohydrates and fats. These enzymes do not cancel each other out. Furthermore, if digestion does not occur, weight loss, not weight gain is the more likely outcome.
Susanne Somers’ advises dieters not to drink water with meals. Why? Because it dilutes the digestive juices and slows down digestion.
Fact: Water does not retard digestion.
Susanne Somers claims that no reliable long-term studies have shown any negative effects associated with increased fat consumption.
Fact: The American Institute For Cancer Research report, Food, Nutrition, and the Prevention of Cancer: A Global Perspective (1997), listed numerous studies possibly linking a high fat intake with an increased risk of several cancers and other chronic diseases.
A Note about Healthy Weight Control
Fad diets, unbalanced diets, diet pills, diet supplements, weight loss surgery and other short term weight loss methods are not recommended for permanent weight control. The best way to lose excess fat and maintain a healthy weight in the long term is to follow a balanced calorie-controlled diet (that improves your eating habits) and take regular aerobic exercise.
