Hypothyroidism Causes Weight Gain
Hypothyroidism and Weight Gain
Hypothyroidism can cause weight gain, even though it also reduces your appetite.
Women who develop hypothyroidism can start to gain weight even though they are not over-eating and see little progress when they diet.
If you have been on a weight loss diet for 4 weeks and have not lost weight during that time, or if you have great difficulty losing weight after pregnancy, it is possible that you have an underactive thyroid, or hypothyroidism.
Check with your doctor – a simple blood test is all that is required.
