Diet Tips to Reduce Boils
Lowered Immunity Due to Bad Diet
Recurring boils are typically a sign of lowered resistance to bacterial infection. Boils commonly occur as a result of a poor quality diet leading to nutritional deficiencies, or illness. Patients with diabetes can be at a higher risk of boils.
Guide to Diet For Boils
Any diet aimed at reducing boils needs to boost your immunity. Zinc, vitamin C and vitamin E are the three most important nutrients to increase immunity and raise resistance to infection.
- Increase your intake of zinc by adding more of the following foods to your daily diet: oysters (expensive but very rich in zinc!), lean steak, pork loin, wheatgerm, brewer’s yeast, pumpkin seeds, eggs.
- Add extra vitamin C to your diet and improve your resistance to infection by eating more of the following foods: citrus fruit, kiwi fruit, blueberries.
- Add wheatgerm, soybeans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and eggs for their vitamin E.
- Add extra carrots to your meals, for their vitamin A, which has antioxidant benefits.
- Snack on half a dozen Brazil nuts for their selenium content. Selenium improves immunity by boosting the effectiveness of vitamin E.
