More Comments on The Weight Loss Program
Here are just a few of the thousands
of email messages I've received from Members of my weight loss diet program.
They describe REAL weight loss experiences! As well as weight reduction,
they cover weight-loss motivation, health and the feel-good factor from
following a healthy balanced diet.
Anne,
...If Oprah had any sense, she'd devote a whole show to your program and
what you have achieved for so many people... My husband joins me in thanking
you for all your help...
Jerry W. (Ohio) (Lost 72 Pounds)
Dear Anne,
"I'm writing to thank you for your wonderful weight loss program
and your unbelievably caring support... I've lost 62 pounds but
much more important - I've regained all my confidence.....You have literally
changed my life... As I write this, my eyes are filling up with tears.
How can I thank you?..." Louise B.
I found Anne Collins
through my doctor! We had a long discussion one day about my weight and
how many diets I had tried etc. He told me to go on-line and find Anne's
site. He was doing research at the time on on-line diets (e-diets etc)
and said that Anne Collins was the only one that was always nutritionally
sound and would make sure the weight would come off and stay off! The
best advice I was ever given!

Anne,
A quick update. Saw my doctor first thing this morning. Scales showed
a loss of 12 pounds for the month. A total of 92 pounds in 10 months.
Next month I'm going to break the 100 barrier, and after that I just need
to lose 19 pounds to join the 199 club! My heart is already jumping at
the thought.
Mia (Texas)
Dear Anne:
Today, I reached my long term goal of losing 30 pounds!!! I'm so excited
and so thrilled. Tomorrow is my 17th wedding anniversary. My husband,
is taking me out to dinner to our favorite inn... (first time I'm eating
out since beginning my diet -- I already checked out your eating out pages
and will be very careful). Anyway, I had a black semi-formal dress in
my closet that I haven't been able to wear. In fact, the tags are still
on the dress. Well, today is fits -- beautifully. I'm going to wear it
tomorrow. Thanks, Anne, for your lessons on healthful eating, and most
of all, your encouragement. I intend to stay on the diet as I hope to
lose a little more weight, but also because the diet has really become
a new way of eating, a habit for everyday life. God bless you!
Cheryl (New Jersey)
Hi Anne,
Just wanted to say - from the bottom of my heart - your diet is simply
awesome... Great value, unbelievable support... no other Internet diet
program I've ever tried comes close... you are so unbelievably REAL!!!
Pat
Anne, ... my doctor
told me yesterday that he didn`t think I needed my zestril [high blood
pressure med] He has lowered my thyroid med.to about half of what it was.
And I`ve been off prednisone now since Aug. ALL THANKS TO YOU. Thanks
so much Anne for all you've done.

Anne:
Just wanted you to know that I've continued to enjoy tremendous success
with the weight loss program. When I first purchased your diet back in
January of this year, I weighed 151.5 pounds (which was a bit much for
my 5'4" frame). I was very uncomfortable closing my size 12 pants
and skirts and needed to either lose weight or start accepting the concept
of wearing size 14. I arbitrarily set a goal of 125 pounds and to do it
by my birthday on June 4th. By my birthday, I had dropped to 133 pounds
and was astonished to realize that I really didn't need to lose any more
weight. I looked fabulous, that I was fitting into my old size 8s and
10s, the 10s were comfortably loose, the 8s a bit tight but certainly
presentable. I'm now at 131 pounds; officially 20 pounds lighter than
when I started. My cholesterol dropped 78 points, and my doctor is no
longer threatening to make me start taking drugs to reduce it. I'm happily
maintaining my current weight and having no trouble with that. I have
no need to lose any more. I can now occasionally treat myself to fattier
foods (like pizza or ice cream or a little extra butter on my bread) without
worrying that I'll never look good or be healthy again....Thanks again
for having been there. It really helped.
Nancy (Pennsylvania)
Anne,
Thank you for replying so quickly to the e-mail I sent you last week.
I just thought I'd let you know that I weighed in this morning, having
completed my first week, and I was delighted to find that I had lost 6
pounds!! I know I won't continue to lose at that rate, but I'm thrilled
because I found it so easy. I've been using the main meal recipes for
4, and serving my family the same meals (they just get an extra potato
or a slightly larger portion) and my husband has not only noticed or commented
on the healthier menus, but twice this week has asked me "when are
you starting your diet?" You were right about feeling better after
only a week on the diet - I've got so much more energy, so I am going
to start taking myself off for a short walk each day and try and build
up from there. Thank you again; it's great knowing I can contact you for
support whenever I feel I need it.
Jan (W.Virginia)
Anne,
I purchased your diet earlier this year. I am about 5 foot 9, and was
weighing 182 pounds. My doctor had just told me that the constant pain
in my low back was arthritis and that losing weight would be important
to minimizing the effects of the disease over time. Last Friday I saw
him for another purpose. He was stunned to look at my chart and see that
I now weigh 150 pounds! He applauded my effort. Thank you for your diet.
I never felt deprived, nor listless, and I've readopted healthier eating
habits. I still have about 10 pounds to go, but I just had to say thank
you for the help! By the way, my back is much better with a lighter load
to carry...

Dear Anne
I signed up today and feel compelled to write to you after having read
a number of your very fine weight loss motivational articles. They run
contrary to the 'good girl/bad girl' stuff that I have been punishing
myself with all these years. They are direct and powerful in their brevity,
but they also communicate a sense of love and forgiveness. I know it may
sound amazing, but I never realized until now the huge part that 'attitude'
plays in the success or failure to lose weight.
Joan (Oregon)
Anne - You Are Wonderful!
My name is Michelle and I'm in the USA. I just started your weight loss
program this week (first week of the rest of my life)! I haven't run into
any problems yet, but I've taken precautions (healthy snacks in my cubby
at work!). I wanted to tell you that you have absolutely opened my eyes.
I've done diet pills, fasting, Atkins, the different commercial diets,
and nothing worked because I always felt deprived. When I found your diet,
I almost passed it up, but I started to read everything you said and it
made perfect sense. Then I became a member, and was almost in awe because
I identified everything you said about that wicked cycle of feeling desperate,
then dieting for a few weeks, then the hopelessness, the binge, and back
to square one. I've always had a weight problem, when I was 12 I weighted
in at 180 pounds. The thinnest I've ever been in my 26 years is 150 pounds,
that was when I was 19 and had just stopped about 9 months of phentermine.
Now, I'm about 240 pounds and 5ft 6in (was 260 pounds in 8/03), and haven't
been about to get past the 200 mark. But after reading I realized I'm
the one who wants to lose 60 pounds in 4 months. I will not do that ever
again. I'd rather lose 100 pounds in one year than 30 in a month to just
regain it back and some. Your tips are fantastic! I've never read anything
more truthful (the truth DOES hurt!); I feel enlightened! I will make
sure to keep you posted on my progress; I'm so excited, more than I've
ever been before because I know that this is it. I can do this. It feels
good and healthy and I'm not starving!!
Michelle C
Anne!
I started your plan just over a week ago, weight last Tuesday was 236
pounds. This morning was a shock, my weight today is 210 pounds!!! This
is a terrific flying start! So I shall raise my glass to you tonight!
Cheers!
Judy (London)
Anne,
I am a 51 year old woman, 5 feet tall and I weigh 148 pounds... I read
about 8 of your articles so far, and what really impressed me is the thread
that runs through all of them: MENTAL work has to go on in order to succeed.
You don't pepper them with little food tips or tricks -- the most important
dieting GOES ON IN YOUR HEAD. So, as I begin to apply the principles of
healthy eating one more time, I think I see that I need to get rid of
a lot of anger as well as the excess weight. Anger that I have directed
toward myself. And they just may be synonomous. Thanks, Anne. I really
feel hopeful I can lose weight this time.

Anne,
I am 49 years old, and was gaining weight, entering a menopause nightmare.
I have always been able to eat anything I wanted, whenever I wanted. All
of a sudden, my clothes felt tight and my belly looked like I was pregnant.
I am 5'8" tall and wore a size 12 forever. When I plumped up and
couldn't wear my jeans anymore, I decided it was time to do something.
Also, I was going on a hunting trip in October and couldnt fit in my beloved
cammo pants, almost stuffing myself into them for a test. I took your
diet (every page), read it word for word, and followed it exactly as you
said. Within 3 weeks, I lost the inches it took to fit quite nicely in
my jeans and easily into my cammo pants for that hunting trip. I was energized
and felt healthier than I ever can remember. Also, I was never a fish
eater, but gave seafood a chance. I now crave it! I love my salmon. tuna
and whitefish. Best of all, I was never, ever hungry or felt deprived.
Today, :-( for the first time, I ate french fries. I can tell you that
I felt like I was walking though thick mud for the rest of the day...absolutely
no energy. You have taught me a new way to cook for me and my family and
I thank you! I keep my notebook on the kitchen counter and refer to it
3 times a day, and I have decided that this is the way I want to nourish
myself. Kids like hot dogs, pizza and fried junk food but I have made
the decision to feed them the healthy way you have taught me, with an
occasional treat. I cant thank you enough! Much Love and admiration :-).......
Karen (Pennsylvania)
Dear Anne,
I have been on your diet now for approx 4 weeks and the weight is coming
off at about 3-4 lbs a week. I was very doubtful about a diet because
of being on anti-depressants as they make you gain weight rather a lot.
I feel so much better for eating 3 meals a day and my blood sugar level
must have levelled out, as I don't get the highs and lows in the day.

Dear Anne,
My wife and I are both on your diet and it is an excellent way to eat
a more heathy way. It is not that difficult once you follow your rules.
So far (it's only been 4 weeks) I've lost 16 pounds and she's lost 15
pounds - so it's neck and neck! Thanks for the great support.
Tom (Missouri)
Anne,
I have been on your diet for 11 weeks. I am so thrilled with my success.
I have lost 25 pounds. I only want to loose another 5 pounds and then
maintain my goal weight. The maintaining has been my problem in the past.
But with your support I'm confident I can do it.
Mary-Jo (Illinois)
Hiya Anne,
I found your diet web page in May this year - I think I've been looking
for it for the last 10 years!!. I'm 30, 5'7" and was nearly 200 pounds.
I read everything and then started it, I found it really easy and have
lost 22 pounds so far, with a holiday in between as well. I am so happy,
I haven't been this weight since about 1994/5. So, I'm halfway to my goal
and I'm going to do it, your case histories and blunt advice have been
great, just what I needed. I have to admit I used to be addicted to the
weighing scales and had mood swings depending on what they said. I'm now
fully cured and weigh once a week - haha.
Billi (Tennessee)
Anne,
Your tips and support are absolutely fantastic! Thank you Anne for making
me believe in myself and have confidence, it has made such a big difference
to my life!
Maria (New Zealand)
Hello Anne:
Just a quick update for you. As of today, July 22, I am down 90 pounds
to 180. I have not been this lean since I was 18 years old. I will be
51 in 9 days! A couple of ladies here at work are doing it also.
LB (Florida)
Dear Anne,
My name is Ginny and I have been on your diet plan since June 15th and
have achieved my goal of a 20 pounds weight loss. Hooray!! I feel great.
I have gone down two dress sizes and have lost 4 inches from my hips and
thighs. My seamstress is very busy right now. My entire family now looks
at the fat grams on packages from the market. It's quite funny, we have
all changed the way we look at food. My husband lost 10 pounds just from
my change in the way I cook. I am a pastor's wife of a good size church
and you wouldn't believe how many ladies have asked me how I lost the
weight. I have been able to pass on your website to many women. I hope
they check in with you and start. It has really been worth it. Thank you
for all the encouragement, advise and help along the way. Sincerely,
Ginny
Hi Anne!
I have e-mailed you before Anne and am happy to report that... I have
lost almost 40 pounds. I work out six days a week in a gym and I feel
wonderful. Thank you for making the diet so easy for people like me who
hate to diet.

Anne,
I wanted to let you know that I've used your diet for about 40 days and
have lost 20 pounds. And it seemed easy. After the first week when I hit
the scales, I was prepared to be disappointed. So to my surprise the scale
said 4 pounds were gone. After the next week, some more were gone. This
was fun. I wasn't hungry, could pass on breakfast biscuits and eating
lunch out. I recommend to anyone starting your diet to keep a daily log.
I did from the start and was able to quickly identify my cheat zones and
keep them in line. I haven't given up any food and my husband and I still
eat out at the same places, same meals. I just don't eat as much and don't
feel guilty asking for a people bag. I also exercise regularily using
a treadmill. Thanks again for creating a smart, sensible way of eating.
Nicole (New Jersey)
Anne,
I purchased your diet plan last june, and up to date I have managed with
ease to loose 52 pounds, the weight came off very easily (although steadily),
AND I FEEL WONDERFUL. Thank you so much for your wonderful plan.
WJ (Kentucky)
Anne,
This is my monthly report of progress as promised. To date, I have lost
from approximately 265 pounds down to 198 pounds. That is 67 pounds since
February 1st. I have resumed running three to four miles almost every
day and back to using weights for muscle tone again. S has lost 34 pounds
during this time also. She is now lighter than she has been since her
early 20s. Since she is approaching 56 years young and is weighing now
about 12 pounds from her high school weight, she is very happy and excited.
Her goal is the other 12 pounds to weigh 120 pounds on her 5 foot 2 frame.
She is walking and running and using the weights also. I want to lose
at least 8 more pounds and I will feel that I have met my goal to get
there and then begin my lifetime of STAYING there in the 190 area. We
are feeling great. About two years ago my doctor put me on high blood
pressure medicine as my BP was about 136/96 or so. He recently took me
off it as my BP had plunged to 116/68! S's is 113/68 and our doctor is
very happy indeed. We have now lost about a full person in weight (100
pounds) and our bed seems much bigger now that the third person has been
lost out of it!!! :>) We will endeavor to continue our pursuit of a
lifetime of keeping fit. We both have made that firm decision that we
want to get in shape and stay in shape as much as our health allows us
the remainder of our LONG lives together. Our weight loss has apparently
inspired several others that we commute to each day to work. Some have
started diets, come to us to ask what we are doing, how can they do it,
etc. I have endeavored to watch my fat intake very much. I think the huge
reduction in fat intake has assisted me the most in my loss. I am eating
plenty of fresh fish, chicken without the skin, veggies, fruits, yogurts,
melons, breads, potatoes, and rice. I have not had a hamburger, french
fry, slice of pizza, bowl of ice cream, candy bar, or coke since our diets
started. Frankly, I have not missed them that much. We both know that
after we get to where we want to be, we can on the occasion have one of
those, but in moderation. I told S a burger would probably be a chicken
sandwich instead and ice cream would be a purchased one at a store in
small quantities instead of a whole gallon in a bucket in the frig. Hope
this report cheers your day, it certainly has ours.Regards,
B & S (Mid West)

Dear Anne,
My wife and I chose your plan 17 weeks ago as the diet that we felt most
closely compared to the way our doctor advised us to diet. My wife's goal
is to lose 80 lbs. and mine is to lose 50 lbs.... I am happy to report
very pleasing progress and that we are very happy with the results and
the way we are feeling. My wife has lost 23 pounds and I have lost 27.5.
We have found the diet easy to follow and it actually contains many foods
that we really like. Two other very positive changes we have found are
the habits of always eating breakfast and always sitting down at a table
to eat as a family. These practices have provided us benefits far beyond
just losing weight.
G and D (Alabama)
Anne,
It is 14 weeks since I began your diet, and I've lost 25 pounds. My goal
was 30 pounds so I only have 5 pounds more to go. My girls keep asking
me "What's the first thing you are going to have when you meet your
goal and go off your diet?" Well, I'm not going "off my diet."
I don't have a diet. What I have is a new way of eating -- a new, healthier
habit and attitude regarding food. Now that I'm in the "home stretch,"
I've been thinking about setting a new goal. I began at 165 pounds, I'm
now at 140. My goal was 135 pounds, but I'm thinking about setting a new
goal of 130. Gosh, I can hardly believe it (and just in time for summer!).
I've also lost 3 to 3 1/2 inches off each of my measurements. Just wanted
to keep you informed of my progress and especially to take this opportunity
to again thank you for your encouragement. Talk to you soon.
B.
Hi Anne,
Just a quick update on my progress so far with your diet. It has now been
11 weeks and I have shed 20 pounds. The realization of just how much weight
this is came when I grabbed two 10 pound bags of potatoes and jumped on
the scales. Wow! I was carrying that much extra baggage?

Hi, Anne,
Just wanted to send my first update. After 3 wks following your sensible
guidelines, My weight went down from 202 lbs. to 194 lbs. and I feel much
better already! Calories averaging about 1400 per day. I also do two days
of weight/resistance training for 40-min. sessions and 3 days of step
aerobics or power walking for 50-min. sessions, plus I dance whenever
I can! I have cut out alcohol completely; other than that I just balance
things out nutritionally, keeping track of everything I eat or drink.
I think I can do this. I just wanted to share this good news with you.
Best regards,
C (Illinois)
Dear Anne:
It has been about two months...just under that I have been following your
program now. I am so amazed to say that it is working! I must admit, it
is slow, but definitely steady. It is so amazing because it made me realize
what a horrible eater I was and how I was doing so many things wrong.
I have had definite bad days and slip ups, which have delayed my progress
a little, but the slip up advice you had on your program stayed in the
back of my mind and I would just get back on track as fast as I could.
In the past my "diet" would consist of a sleeve of crackers,
and I am not kidding or exaggerating. Now I incorporate lots of good whole
grains, lean meat, fruits and vegetables, I eat every hour or 2 hours
and I feel so much better. I have not really been exercising though, and
I know that would help me speed things up a little. With 19 pounds lost
I have about 11 to go...hopeful by summer I will get there with this plan.
I don't really have questions this time around, I just want to say thank
you for your site and thank you for being there to help educate people
like me on proper nutrition....

Anne,
Just a note to thank you for your diet. I don't have any questions; I
just thought you might like to hear another success story. I believed
I could not lose weight, being 61 years old and not active at all. And
except for all that evening snacking, I thought I ate pretty well. I had
decided to try a healthy, smart diet and was thrilled to find yours. Exactly
what I wanted and needed. Like many others, I had tried and failed over
and over. But this is the perfect diet, I think. Normal, everyday food,
balanced, healthy. There have been some setbacks, of course. A time last
fall when life was too hectic and stressful. I stopped for a month and
a half. And then later, my friend, a lively 75, got married in December.
I spent a lot of time with her travelling, shopping, looking for the room
for that special first night, etc. I gained 3 pounds. And lost it. I was
177 pounds when I started. I am now 155. I hope to lose a bit more. Ten
pounds or so. And I am sure I can do it. I am looking forward to the summer
clothes coming into the stores and a gigantic shopping spree. I have become
more active. Your diet was extremely encouraging, and taught me how to
eat. I am looking and feeling so much better. Healthwise I know I will
reap the benefits. Thank you so much.
DD (Canada)
Anne,
I just thought I would drop you an e-mail and let you know about my progress.
I started your plan as of five weeks ago and it has been working great.
I lost 7 pounds the first week, 4 pounds the second, 2 pounds the third,
3 pounds the fourth, and 2 pounds this week for a total of 18 pounds.
I started at 207 pounds and am down to 189 pounds. I still want to lose
9 pounds. I havent been able to follow your plan exactly because
with work I have to go out to eat four or five times a week. But watching
what I eat and based on the suggestions you have provided in your diet
about eating out I have been able to lose the weight. Thanks.
PF. (Canada)

Anne,
I started your diet in Nov, Anne and I have lost 22 pounds to date. Your
diet is so easy. I cook for all the family with your recipes. My goal
is to lose at least 20 pounds more. I am planning a trip back home for
August and this is certainly an incentive. Thanks again.
Anne (Pennsylvania)
Hi, Anne,
I started on the vegetarian diet about 20 days back, was doing great -
lost about 5 pounds in the first 15 days. I think it is one of the most
sound and practical diets I have ever tried :), and the Diet tips are
excellent motivation stuff...

Anne,
I've been doing your diet plan for 7 weeks. I've lost 10 lbs so easily
I can't believe it. Thank you for the diet, I no longer have heartburn
or feel sick to my stomach and I sleep so well at night it's a pleasure
to go to bed rather than a dreadful thing.
Joanne (Maryland)
Hi,
I started your weight loss diet plan 10 weeks ago. I've lost 18 pounds
in weight, but more important - I'M NOT HUNGRY! MAGIC!
Kerry (Wisconsin)
Anne!
I followed your advice about overcoming my plateau and last week I lost
another 2 pounds! Yippee! This makes 23 pounds in 11 weeks!... Thanks
so much for your help, Anne. Being able to email you for advice is SUCH
a comfort.
Pat (NY)
Hello Anne,
... I am a doctor and bought your diet plan about a week ago and have
been religiously sticking to it. I was 12 stone 10 and have now come down
to 12 stone 5 - in about a week! Cutting out all the sweets etc was tough,
but it made me realise just how much of that stuff I was munching on a
day to day basis. I haven't done any more exercise than normal but already
I feel better - presumably because I don't feel "full" all the
time. Thanks again - I just hope I can get my weight down to about 147
pounds (apparently my ideal weight). By the way - I am a man!
