Calorie Needs to Lose Weight
If you want to lose body weight, you need
to consume fewer calories than you burn. One pound of body weight is roughly
equivalent to 3500 calories, so to lose 1 pound/week either reduce your
daily calorie intake by 500 calories, or take more exercise, or (ideally)
a combination of both diet and exercise.
For optimum health, if you reduce calories
to lose weight then don't reduce calorie-intake below 1200 calories/day.
