Anorexia Nervosa - IntroductionAnorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in which the anorexic loses the ability to allow themselves to satisfy their appetite. Typically, the anorexic restricts his/her intake of food and drink, sometimes to a dangerous level. It is a way of demonstrating to themselves that they are in control of their body weight and shape. Frequently, however, the anorexia takes over and the chemical changes in the body distort the anorectic's thinking, making it impossible for the person to make rational decisions about food. Occasionally, anorexia is fatal. If you think you are suffering from anorexia, please see your doctor. The condition needs professional help from someone qualified in eating disorders.
