Weight Loss MethodsThere are a wide range of ways to lose weight. For super-obese or morbidly obese patients, (BMI > 40), bariatric surgery is becoming a popular method of reducing calorie intake. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass or Lap Band are the most common bariatric procedures, which can also be performed using laparoscopic techniques. Most obesity clinics offering this type of gastric reduction surgery offer comprehensive advice to successful candidates. For patients with mild obesity, (BMI > 30), traditional calorie-controlled diets combined with some obesity drug treatment and a healthy exercise program are the recommended approach. For those who are overweight, (BMI 26-29.9), most doctors recommend a healthy weight loss diet combined with increased exercise incorporating both aerobic and resistance training workouts. Fad diets (eg. cider vinegar diet, cabbage soup diet) or very low calorie diets are not recommended. Whatever method you choose to reduce fat, remember this: losing weight is much easier than maintaining it. So look for a plan that offers proper help and support to develop healthy eating habits and a regular fitness routine. Weight
