Water Intake When Dieting

Many dietitians recommend that you drink 6-8 glasses (8 oz./glass) of water per day, when dieting. Yet a recent study revealed that drinking this amount of water caused no more weight loss than drinking less. So how necessary is water when dieting?

Well you should definitely drink whenever thirsty. If you exercise regularly (as you certainly should), then it's an excellent idea to drink an extra glass of water both before and after you exercise.

One way to determine if you're getting enough water is to check the color of your urine. If it is colorless or light yellow then your water intake is satisfactory. If it is medium or dark yellow, you need to drink more.
